Healthy Frozen Mocha

I’ve never been a huge coffee person, but I have always loved a Starbucks Frappuccino! Mainly because it’s pretty much a frozen dessert.. does it really even count as coffee? Soo when Noah was about 4 weeks old I happened to have a Frappe at Starbucks happy hour with my cousin (hadn’t had one in like 23 years before this) and from then on I was craving them! Since they’re pretty much sugar with a dash of coffee, this was obviously not the best addiction to start. Soo I set out to make a healthier one at home.. and here it is!

Before we get started, this home made one doesn’t have the whipped cream and chocolate sauce of the Starbucks Mocha Frappe. If that’s something that makes it for you, feel free to add it. I just don’t like to add the extra sugar and Noah has me dairy free because of his sensitivity right now! So sadly, no whip even as a special treat for me! That being said, this one is going to be less sweet without all those things! It also saves you from a massive sugar crash later! 😀

Healthy Frozen Mocha

5 Ounces of coffee

5 Ounces milk of choice (I use unsweetened almond milk)

Cacao or Coco powder

2-3 Tablespoons Date paste or other sweetener of choice (Other sweeteners will be more like 1/2- 1 Tbsp depending what you choose)

1 Scoop collagen peptides (Optional)

Ice

A few things you can adjust:

If you like a stronger coffee taste you can use more coffee, less almond milk.

If you want to use sweetened / vanilla almond milk you can adjust the amount of sweetener you add here or leave it out.

If you’d like to use a granular sweetener rather than date paste, I would recommend putting the sugar/coconut sugar in the warm/hot coffee so that it dissolves before starting!

And if you want this to be even easier but don’t care so much about it being perfectly clean, you can always use a chocolate syrup like Hershey’s Simple 5 or something similar. It’s of course going to have processed sugar but it’s non GMO and minimal ingredients if you’re in a pinch or prefer not to mess with cacao/cocoa and date past or other sweeteners.

Making a Healthy Mocha Frappe

Super simple! Like all my recipes 😀

In your blender cup, add coffee, almond milk, cacao, sweetener and collagen peptides if you want them.

Add ice until you reach the 20-24 oz fill line or the ice states to stack up above the liquid. You don’t want chunks of ice that are way above the liquid line. Sticking out above it is fine but not way above or it won’t blend up!

Blend! Yes its, that easy. I blend it for about 20 seconds in my ninja blender cup.

Let me know if you give it a try and how you like it!

Sweat, Smile, Repeat! And Eat 🙂
