We’ve all been there, whether it’s a vacation or a business trip, it can be tough to keep up with our workout schedule while we’re away from home and out of our normal routine. Recently, I traveled to New York for four days and I knew I wasn’t going to have my usual Get Fit Guide equipment (aka just dumbbells) so I decided I would bring bands and do my workouts that way. Ahh-mazing! I’ve traveled with bands before, but it’s been a while. This was a great reminder of what a versatile tool they can be!
There’s no denying it, i love dumbbells. They’re my favorite, they’re versatile and easy to have at home but when it comes to traveling I can’t just stick them in my suitcase. That’s where these lovely bands come in. They roll up to a super tiny size and you can modify most dumbbell exercises to be done with bands (depending on the type of course), which is great.
In this video I go through a few of my favorite types of bands and some ideas for how you can use them! This is definitely not an exhaustive list of the ways they can be used though! I’m thinking I may need to follow this up with some basic band exercise examples, let me know if you’d be interested! I did make an upper body band workout on my Instagram page recently if you want to check that out!
It’s not all about bands though, I also love to pack a yoga towel (or small regular towel) massage stick and some type of lacrosse/tennis ball to roll out knots (you can get a ball made specifically for this too)! Keeping up with things that aid in recovery are important too! 🙂
The towel comes in handy for abs, any type of plank or push up, pretty much anything you might be on the floor for. Cause really, I don’t wanna crush an ab workout and realize I laid in something super gross or have some gum in my hair.
Below the video I list the ‘names‘ for each. I say ‘names’ because they’re really all just bands but they’ll come up like this in a google search and people will know what you’re talking about if you’re looking for it in a store!
Yoga towel/ any small regular towel
Looped resistance band
Pull up assist bands
Resistance bands/tubing with handles
Trigger point ball
I hope this was helpful for you next trip or maybe even to mix it up at home! 🙂 Let me know what you’d like to see next!
